Gucci @gucci: David Chan for #GucciGram Tian David Chan (@silentstudio) knows the power of juxtaposition. Throughout his playful, inventive work, seemingly unrelated elements are brought together in unexpected and revelatory combinations. An in-demand Singaporean artist, Chan paints animal-human hybrids in a deft, highly rendered style that recalls the work of Surrealists like René Magritte. His use of dreamlike symbolism creates strangely moving and slyly humorous scenes: the incongruous pairing of a gorilla head atop the body of a sulking schoolboy is hard to forget. In contrast to the more realistic appearance of the seated figure, Chan uses his own interpretation of the #GucciTian pattern, a flattened, graphic landscape of plants and wildlife, bringing together Eastern and Western aesthetics into one cohesive piece. — @tatianaberg See more #GucciGram through link in bio.
